Evan Netsch,
The young Freestyle King.
Evan lives on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the United States and is only 11 years old. He loves a variety of water sports and spends almost every summer day at the beach either surfing, skim boarding or bogie boarding. Despite his young age, Evan has more than three years of experience already. When the breeze is up - windsurfing takes over. Since Evan only weighs 32 KG, he can power up on a 2.7 or 3.3 sail on a Surf 70 or Play in a wide range of conditions. Most of his sailing time is spent practicing freestyle tricks. In 2000 he won the kids division at the King of the Cape and in 2001 placed third behind two of the Bonaire kids. Evan also enters freestyle events in the Cape Hatteras area and usually competes against adults. At the 2001 King of the Campground event, held during Wind-Fest, Evan won first place in very light wind. Hot Sails Maui (who produces great kids rigs), Windsurfing Hawaii and Get Work-D. Evan and his younger sister Hilarey love the Starboard Play for small waves and light wind. Both of them think the Play is the coolest looking board, but Evan has also started to challenge the waves and prefers the Surf as his all around favorite.
